We are a church in Cranston, RI, who have received the amazing grace and mercy of God. We have not forgotten where and how we lived in trouble before we met the Savior. We still live in wonder at what He has done for us. We are glad to welcome everyone to our family, no matter what your background.
When the first church was born, it had no name. No denominations had yet been formed! In fact, they were not even called “Christians” at first! The church that Jesus built was known only by their experience, their continual conversation about Jesus, and that they delighted in getting together in worship and prayer.
At Gateway, we have found that all the thrill and excitement of the first days of the church, filled with the miraculous, are meant to be enjoyed by 21st century Christians, too! It is our goal to be the church that Jesus built, and that church is pictured in the Bible, in the book “The Acts of the Apostles”-Apostolic .We are a Day of Pentecost Church in worship. Russell and Elaine Farmer came to Rhode Island in 1996 from Henderson, NC. It was there that they had planted a new church in 1994 as an extension of their home church in Raleigh, NC. Before that, they had served in ministry in California, assisting their pastor there. Russell, a native of Rhode Island, felt the voice of God calling him to return to his home state to birth the church here in Cranston. With Elaine, Tenney (his son), Nate (their boxer), and a desire to have the people of Rhode Island experience the risen Christ, Russell came and set down roots for the work here to begin. God has blessed, and the church in Cranston, Rhode Island is growing and active in the Kingdom of God.
Once planted in the Kingdom of God by being born again (John 3:3-5 & Acts 2:38), it is God’s plan that we each grow to our full potential in Him. God has a unique and special place in His Kingdom for every one of us.
That growth happens at Gateway through worship, prayer, Bible study, and finding our place in the various ministries of the church. Being a Christian is not a spectator sport…and you’re invited to join in, and fill your place in the great body of Christ!
The ministries exists to give hope in your calling and equip you to follow Jesus Christ. We believe that you are not just the future of the church, but the church here and now. We want to develop disciples by training them to impact their world. Check out our ministries below and see where you belong.
The Lord passionately cares for all of us. It’s our focus to help our youth grow into their full potential through understanding God’s Word, doing fun things, and personal mentoring. Their greatest advantage is a strong relationship with Jesus Christ!
